Ukraine is facing an energy crisis following Russian bombing
The operator of the national electricity network in Ukraine, Ukrenergo, announced on Thursday that the network is in a "difficult" situation, being seriously affected by the Russian bombings, which has brought Ukraine to the situation where it has to import electricity, reports Digi24.ro .
"Today, electricity consumption continues to grow and the energy system is in deficit," Ukrenergo reported in a Telegram post.
On Wednesday, Ukraine had to resort to "emergency assistance" from three neighboring countries: Romania, Slovakia and Poland, informed Ukrenergo. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in early October that Russia would try to "destroy" its country's electricity system this winter. To counter this threat, Kiev is asking its Western allies for new air defense systems.
