Russia says it thwarted major Ukrainian drone attack
Russian air defence shot down 20 Ukrainian drones over Russia, including over the Moscow region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that several drones were destroyed near the Russian capital, Reuters reported.
According to Sobyanin, the drones flying toward Moscow were shot down in the Naro-Fominsk and Odintsovo regions in the Moscow suburbs, and air defence intercepted and destroyed several more drones in the Bryansk, Tula, and Kaluga regions.
It is believed that there were no casualties or major damage. Moscow region governor Andrey Vorobyov reported that five drones were intercepted in the region and three buildings were damaged.
"In 3 cases there is damage to ground buildings, fortunately, there are no deaths or injuries."
At around 5 a.m., two airports in Moscow suspended operations, but resumed shortly after. Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is worth noting that on the night of November 25, the Russian Federation carried out the most massive air raid on Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that what Moscow is doing is "deliberate terror."
