Igor Grosu: The Republic of Moldova joined most of the EU sanctions against the Russian Federation
The Republic of Moldova has joined the majority of the European Union's sanctions packages against the Russian Federation, said the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, in the program "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova. The Parliament Speaker reiterated that Russia is committing crimes through the war waged in Ukraine and that Moscow's attitude towards the Republic of Moldova is hostile, especially after the decision of the Chisinau authorities to follow the vector of European integration.
Igor Grosu stated that the recent local general elections prooved that the citizens voted for pro-European mayors and they want to capitalize on their choice "to be part of Europe".
"Moscow does not like this. We saw what they are capable of in Ukraine. They are capable of murder. (...) Starting from the fact that the Russian Federation had an arrogant and unfriendly attitude towards the Republic of Moldova 30 years ago, when it provoked the war on the Nistru and since then it has kept its army and ammunition on our territory. Starting from all the embargoes imposed on us over time, the energy blackmails we were subjected to, at least the last two years. Russia has never treated us as an interlocutor who has an opinion, has never respected our decision and never let us decide on our own in which part of the world to be a part of," declared Igor Grosu.
We remind you that, last week, the Republic of Moldova joined the largest package of sanctions of the European Union. It targets hundreds of people, including natives of our country or who have worked in the Transnistrian region.
In response, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow will not leave unanswered Chisinau's decision to join this package of sanctions.
