Moldova enhances judicial system, healthcare, food regulations
Moldovan lawmakers convened for a plenary session on Thursday to delve into a range of critical issues, including judicial reform, healthcare advancements, and food safety regulations.
In a significant step towards strengthening the country's judicial system, Parliament will consider President Maia Sandu's proposal to establish a specialised court system dedicated to handling corruption cases. This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to combating graft and ensuring accountability within the judiciary.
The agenda also encompasses bills aimed at modernising the healthcare sector and safeguarding food quality standards. Proposed amendments to the Law on Healthcare and the Law on Medicines seek to enhance patient care and promote public health. Additionally, lawmakers will discuss measures to streamline operations within the food industry and safeguard consumer safety.
Beyond these key areas, Parliament will address an initiative to facilitate activities in the food sector, a bill on children's rights, and amendments to several other laws. Furthermore, the legislature is expected to appoint a member of the Central Election Commission, ensuring the smooth functioning of the electoral process.
In a further demonstration of regional cooperation, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk is scheduled to address Moldovan lawmakers during the session. His address is anticipated to foster understanding and strengthen ties between the two nations.
As the plenary session unfolds, Moldovan lawmakers will tackle a diverse range of issues, underscoring their commitment to addressing the nation's pressing needs and advancing sustainable development.
