Moldova primed for EU talks as decision nears

Moldova has confidently asserted its readiness for the initiation of European Union accession talks, expressing optimism about the upcoming decision from the European Council.

In a recent interview with Radio Moldova, Mihail Popșoi, Vice President of the Moldovan Parliament, reiterated the country's unwavering commitment to fulfilling all EU requirements.

"We have spared no effort and hold our heads high knowing that no country, not even Hungary, can find fault with our dedication," Popșoi stated firmly. "We are confident that we have done everything within our power, and perhaps even exceeded expectations, in this complex situation."

Popșoi underscored the deep-seated European aspirations of the Moldovan people and their ardent desire for closer integration with the EU. He noted that both the European Parliament and the European Commission have already endorsed the commencement of accession talks with Moldova and Ukraine.

The fate of Moldova's EU ambitions now rests with the European Council, which will convene in Brussels on Thursday and Friday of this week. The crucial decision of whether to open accession talks with both Moldova and Ukraine will be made then, with the possibility of either a unanimous vote or separate votes for each country.
