Given that the European Council will be held in the next two days, the officials spoke about the importance of the EU enlargement.

The officials also addressed the collaboration between Moldova and Hungary, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic relations.

We remind you that the European Council summit will take place tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Brussels. European leaders are to decide whether or not the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine start accession negotiations. The biggest fear is that Hungary could veto the opening of accession negotiations for Ukraine, something that could automatically affect the Republic of Moldova as well, said the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, in an interview for Free Europe.

Also, it is important to mention that today the European Parliament adopted a resolution by which it asks the European Council to decide, during the December 14-15 meeting, to start accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The document was adopted with a large majority - 468 votes «for», 99 «against» and 58 abstentions.
