For his part, the Romanian official stated that supporting Ukraine means defending not only the region, but also the entire space of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).

The Black Sea region is an essential defence component of NATO, and the US has no better ally than Romania - said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, before the start of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers that is being held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bucharest.

"This is an area of critical strategic importance for us and for NATO. Russia has turned this sea into a war zone. We will not be deterred from trying to strengthen our presence from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea," noted Antony Blinken.

Romania, together with its allies, will support Ukraine as long as it is needed, because the invasion of the Russian Federation is not only on Ukraine, it is an attack on the security of Europe, mentioned the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Aurescu.

"After the start of the war in Ukraine, we consider it very relevant to think again, in a new context, and see what would be the main parameters of this US Black Sea strategy. It is an attempt to change the Euro-Atlantic security architecture and we must respond accordingly to protect our partners", said Bogdan Aurescu.

TRM.MD recalls that on Tuesday, within the NATO ministerial, a session will take place with the participation of the head of diplomacy from Kyiv, Dmytro Kuleba. On Wednesday, the support for the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be discussed, in which the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, will also participate.
