Petru Macovei and Valeriu Pașa could be appointed as members of the Council of the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation. Their candidacies were selected following a public competition, organized by the Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Media Commission.

In all, 21 people expressed their interest in participating in the competition. 12 people submitted their participation files. Following their examination, seven candidates were admitted to the interview. It is about Andrei Andrievski, Marcel Deleu, Petru Macovei, Dmitri Moruz, Valeriu Pașa, Dorian Pînzaru, Sergiu Scobială. The candidacies of Valeriu Paşa and Petru Macovei were voted for by the majority of the elected members of the Commission, reads a press release from the Parliament.

According to the regulation, these candidates will be proposed to the plenary of the Parliament to be appointed as a member of the Council of the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation.

We remind you that the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation was created in July of this year. The institution has the mission of strengthening and improving inter-institutional efforts in the fight against disinformation, manipulation of information and against coordinated actions to spread messages, narratives, communications that present danger or may endanger the achievement of national interests.

The Council of the Center is made up of 11 members. Two of them, representatives of civil society, are selected through a competition by the Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Media Commission of the Parliament and are confirmed by the Parliament. The head of the institution is the former Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco.
