Moldovan graduates targeted: New program offers homecomings & jobs

In a strategic move to reconnect with its vast diaspora population, the Moldovan government has launched a comprehensive national program spanning 2024-2028.

This ambitious initiative aims to bolster cultural identity, facilitate career opportunities, and ultimately encourage the return of skilled professionals living abroad.

"This program represents a crucial step towards fostering a sense of shared cultural heritage and reinvigorating the connection between Moldova and its diaspora," declared Violina Donu, deputy head of the Moldovan Office for Relations with the Diaspora. "Through targeted initiatives that champion our language and traditions, we hope to inspire a renewed sense of belonging and strengthen the bonds that unite us."

A central pillar of the program is the establishment of a dedicated mechanism to attract Moldovan university graduates currently studying overseas. This strategic approach seeks to bridge the talent gap by seamlessly connecting these individuals with relevant employment opportunities back home.

"Recognizing the challenges often faced by returning professionals, we are also establishing a dedicated support hotline," Donu explained. "This crucial service will provide comprehensive guidance and address any concerns they may have, ensuring a smooth reintegration into the workforce and society as a whole."

The program seamlessly aligns with the priorities outlined in both the "Prosperous, Secure, European Moldova" government action plan and the "European Moldova 2030" national development strategy. By adopting a holistic approach that encompasses cultural preservation, career advancement, and social reintegration, the initiative holds significant potential for bolstering Moldova's social fabric and strengthening its connection with its global citizens.
