Night aerial assault: Ukrainian response halts 21 Russian attack drones
In a swift and determined response, the Ukrainian military reported the destruction of 21 out of 49 attack drones launched by Russia in the overnight aerial attack, as announced by Kiev's air forces on Sunday morning.
The majority of these drones targeted Ukraine's first line of defense, affecting civilians, military personnel, and crucial infrastructure in the regions of Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhia.
During the initial waves of Russia's assault, at least six missiles struck Kharkiv, resulting in injuries to at least 22 individuals and damage to 12 apartment buildings, 13 residential houses, and a kindergarten, according to the Ukrainian police on Sunday.
"In the aftermath of the Russian drone attack on Kharkiv overnight, buildings in the city center suffered damage. These are not military installations but rather cafes, residential, and office buildings," stated the city's mayor, Igor Terehov.
Earlier, Ukrainian officials revealed that among the wounded in Kharkiv were two boys aged 14 and 16, along with a security advisor for a team of German journalists.
