Moldovan construction workers to Israel on hold
The highly anticipated 29th round of the Moldova-Israel agreement for construction worker recruitment has been temporarily postponed, according to the Moldovan Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
This program, established in 2018, provides a safe and legal pathway for Moldovan citizens to find employment in the Israeli construction sector.
"The organisation and implementation of the 29th round, initially planned for December 2023, is temporarily postponed," the ministry declared in a press release. This delay comes as a surprise to many hopeful Moldovan workers who were eager to join the program.
Exclusivity Through Official Channels:
The ministry emphasised that the Moldova-Israel agreement stipulates that all recruitment for Israeli construction jobs must be channelled exclusively through the National Agency for Employment (ANOFM).
"Engaging in the construction sector through private agencies or direct company recruitment from Israel is illegal and contravenes the agreement's provisions," the ministry firmly stated. This measure safeguards both Moldovan workers and Israeli employers by ensuring a transparent and regulated recruitment process.
Resumption on the Horizon:
While the specific reason for the postponement remains undisclosed, the ministry assured that ANOFM will soon announce the rescheduled date for the 29th round on its official website. This announcement will provide clarity and renewed hope for Moldovan workers eager to participate in the program.
Alternative Routes:
In the meantime, the ministry reminded interested individuals that they can still register with their local ANOFM subdivisions to express their interest in temporary construction work in Israel. This proactive step ensures they are among the first to be considered when the program resumes.
