While Moțpan refrained from specifying the motive behind his departure, he neither confirmed nor denied whether this move marked the conclusion of his political career or a transition to another political faction.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Moțpan conveyed, "Today, I informed my party colleagues that I am leaving Platforma DA. I leave with a heavy heart, having remained on the frontlines until the last moment, fighting sincerely and honestly for the well-being of those around me, never against them. Over the past 8 years, I've gathered friends, experiences, and memories that I will cherish forever. My thoughts go to all those who stood by me during these years, former and current party colleagues, friends, and comrades with whom I shared a piece of bread during tough times, in times far from simple for this country."

Chiril Moțpan, a former deputy and ex-president of the Parliamentary Committee for National Security, held the position of Secretary-General of the Party Platforma Demnitate și Adevăr. Between 1992-2004 and 2009-2013, he served in various capacities within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including Head of the Press Office, Chief of the Press Center, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department, and Deputy Commissioner of Police.

In the parliamentary elections of February 2019, Chiril Moțpan secured a seat as a deputy on the list of the ACUM Bloc, composed of PAS and PPDA. However, as of 2021, he is no longer a deputy, as Platforma DA, the party he ran with in the snap parliamentary elections, failed to secure a place in the Parliament.
