Oleg Serebrian: Tiraspol's "response measures" will not cause Chisinau to revise its position on the Customs Code
The decisions announced by Tiraspol, including the cancellation of the "preferential customs regime" for farmers from Dubasari, do not intimidate the constitutional authorities in Chisinau, announced the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian. According to the official, these "response measures" will not cause Chisinau to review its position regarding the new provisions of the Customs Code.
"The course of escalating relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol is harmful, these steps do not intimidate us in any way and will not make us review our position. Therefore, no concessions will be made to the Customs Code chapter. If we do not find an agreement in Tiraspol, we will see how we compensate the losses suffered by our farmers. It is not the first time that we resort to such compensations, although I hope that it will not come to this," said Oleg Serebrian.
The statements of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, were made after the self-proclaimed authorities in Tiraspol announced that they intend to introduce more customs fees for legal entities operating in the region, but under the jurisdiction of Chisinau.
At the same time, for this category, the tariffs for bills would be adjusted to the level of those in Chisinau, announces the so-called regional administration.
Also, the regime from Tiraspol intends to force the owners of cars with Moldovan license plates, who have permanent residence in the town of Doroțcaia, to pay a vignette.
