Extraordinary parliamentary session addresses key reforms
The Parliament is convened for an extraordinary session from January 17-18, 2024. The Permanent Bureau has approved the Parliament's convocation at the request of the legislative President, Igor Grosu, according to a press release.
The draft agenda for the plenary session of the Parliament's extraordinary session, approved by the Permanent Bureau, includes legislative projects related to institutional integrity assessment, justice system reform, electoral and political party legislation.
According to a statement from the Legislative body, deputies will reconsider the bill aiming to enhance the electoral process, ensuring transparency and fairness in elections. Additionally, second reading approvals are expected for amendments to the Prosecutor's Office Law and the Law on Institutional Integrity Assessment.
The final reading will involve discussions on a legislative initiative to strengthen the capacities of the National Institute of Justice and the competencies of its audience. Deputies will also examine modifications to the National Registry of Public Monuments, as mentioned in the cited source.
During January 17-18, parliamentary committees are set to convene. On Thursday, January 18, deputies will gather in a plenary session starting at 11:00 AM.
