Ten Chinese military aircraft have crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait
The Ministry of Defense of Taiwan declared, on Thursday, that in the last 24 hours, 10 Chinese military planes crossed the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait, News.ro reports.
The Taiwanese ministry reported a resumption of Chinese military activity in the strait, with Chinese aircraft and warships conducting "joint battle preparation patrols".
This is Beijing's biggest show of force around the island since Taiwan's presidential election.
On Saturday, voters in Taiwan elected Lai Ching-te of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as president of the archipelago, who has vowed to protect the territory from Beijing's "threats and intimidation".
Over the past four years, China has stepped up its military activity around Taiwan, and Chinese fighter jets and warships now regularly operate in the strait.
