The start of the evaluation process of national legislation in relation to the acquis of the European Union was discussed in Brussels by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu with the General Director for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the EU, Gert Jan Koopman.

"We discussed the necessary steps to start the negotiations, including the start of the screening process, which consists in evaluating the national legislation in relation to the acquis of the European Union", said Nicu Popescu.

Also, the Moldovan official had meetings with Simon Mordue and Magdalena Grono, the foreign policy advisors of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

Nicu Popescu said that our country has taken enormous steps to be anchored in the European space of democracy, peace and security, reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration from Chisinau.
