Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant mines back in place, IAEA says

The Russian military has reinstalled mines around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukrainian city of Enerhodar, according to Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"The mines along the perimeter of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant - in the buffer zone between the internal and external fences of the facility - which were previously discovered by the IAEA team and confiscated in November 2023, are now back in their original place," Grossi explained. "This is a closed area, inaccessible to the station's operating personnel."

Grossi stressed that the presence of mines there violates IAEA safety standards.
