NATO organizes the largest military exercise. Expert: The alliance sends a clear signal to the Russian Federation

Starting this week, the North Atlantic Organization is organizing the biggest exercise since the Cold War, with the involvement of about 90 thousand soldiers, Euronews writes, citing Alliance officials. According to the source, the military exercises are based on the scenario of triggering Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, which stipulates that an attack on a member state is considered an attack on all other members.

Political expert Ion Tăbârță commented for Radio Moldova that, through this training, NATO sends a clear signal to the Russian Federation that the alliance is ready to respond to any threat from the Kremlin.

"Everything culminated in Russia's brutal intervention in Ukraine that violates international security and this exercise clearly demonstrates that we are in a new security environment on the European continent, and the Russian Federation is the main threat. NATO, as a political-military institution, which is responsible for the security of the majority of states on the European continent, must prepare, be ready to counteract the possible risks, dangers coming from the Russian Federation", declared the expert.

We remind you that the last large-scale NATO exercises took place in 1988, with 125 thousand participants, and in 2018, with the involvement of 50 thousand soldiers.
