Sweden's accession to NATO // The Swedish Prime Minister proposed to his Hungarian counterpart to meet in Brussels
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson proposed to his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán to meet in Brussels next week to discuss Sweden's NATO membership and other bilateral issues. Also, he would be willing to accept the Hungarian Prime Minister's invitation at "a convenient time for both sides", the Government in Stockholm announced on Thursday, writes Rador.
"I agree with you that it would be useful to establish a more intensive dialogue between the two countries," Ulf Kristersson wrote to the Hungarian prime minister.
The Swedish prime minister was invited by Viktor Orbán to Budapest on Tuesday to discuss his country's accession to NATO, as well as other bilateral issues.
Sweden applied to join NATO after Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022. Turkey's parliament ratified the application on Wednesday after a long-delayed vote.
Hungary is the only NATO state that has not yet ratified Sweden's accession.
