Expert: The population of the transnistrian region is not yet affected by the new Customs Code
The population of the transnistrian region is not yet affected by the new Customs Code, because too little time has passed since its entry into force, claims political analyst, Mihai Isac, in the "Paralela 47" show on Radio Moldova. According to the expert, the new provisions will affect the entire country later, and the left bank of the Nistru is not a special case in this code of laws.
"The provisions of the new code apply to the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova, it is not a special section for the eastern region of the country. These images are dedicated to the domestic audience in the eastern region, to the audience in the Russian Federation, because the propaganda machine of "russkii mir" is working at full speed. These images are also used on the telegram channels of the pro-Russian forces in the Republic of Moldova. It's time for the authorities in Chisinau to gradually bring back both the economy and, from the point of view of legislation, the region in the east of the country into the constitutional space. The context of European integration can help the Republic of Moldova by reforming the institutions, by creating a state model that is also attractive for the population in the east of the country", said the expert.
We remind that the new Customs Code requires economic agents from the transnistrian region to pay taxes for the import of goods, as other companies from the Republic of Moldova do.
The self-proclaimed authorities from Tiraspol announced that, starting from February 1, legal entities in the Transnistrian region will be obliged to pay tariffs for gas, electricity and water at prices set on the right bank of the Nistru. These will also affect schools with Romanian language teaching in the Transnistrian region. Customs duties will also be introduced for farmers from several villages in the Dubăsari district.
The Chisinau authorities declared that they will not give in to Tiraspol's pressure.
