Drone power: Ukraine, Lithuania team up
In a crucial move bolstering Ukraine's aerial capabilities, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis, have announced plans to significantly ramp up drone production for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This strategic partnership leverages Lithuania's advanced drone technology with Ukraine's robust manufacturing capacity, aiming to deliver a potent aerial advantage on the battlefield.
"We devoted a significant portion of our discussions to defining concrete steps for boosting drone production for the Armed Forces," Kuleba emphasised. "Lithuania possesses critical technology, while we have the potential to rapidly scale up production. This synergy positions us for substantial progress. A clear understanding exists regarding what, how, and when to execute this plan, ensuring our Ukrainian-Lithuanian collaboration yields maximum results in the shortest time frame possible."
Beyond drone production, the two ministers tackled the "classic" agenda, which encompasses Ukraine's aspirations to join the European Union and NATO. Additionally, they delved into the pressing issues surrounding frozen Russian assets, sanctions, and "all matters requiring effective solutions."
"We share common expectations for the upcoming February 1st European Council meeting," Kuleba stated. "Unlocking the long-delayed European Peace Fund is within reach, despite past hurdles posed by certain EU members. We're actively working towards this crucial goal, and recent developments are encouraging."
Landsbergis' visit to Kyiv underscores the deepening ties between the two nations. Notably, his prior trip on January 26th saw him visit the Kharkiv region, where Lithuania is funding the construction of an essential air-raid shelter. This concrete gesture of support further highlights Lithuania's unwavering commitment to Ukraine's security and well-being.
