Chief of the Romanian Defence Staff: If Russia wins the war in Ukraine, the main target will be the Republic of Moldova
If the Russian Federation wins the war in Ukraine, the main target will be the Republic of Moldova, thus we will witness tensions in the Western Balkans, said the head of the Romanian Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, in an interview with Romania Free Europe.
"The population of Romania, like the entire population of the European Union in Europe, must be concerned and we must adopt the appropriate measures to be prepared. I personally, not necessarily as a military person, believe that the Russian Federation will not stop there. If he wins in Ukraine, the main target will be the Republic of Moldova. We will witness tensions in the Western Balkans. I believe that not a single second should be wasted. It's a moment when all European nations must think about preparing the population", declared Gheorghiță Vlad.
We remind you that recently, the Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, told Digi24.ro that the Russian Federation will continue to destabilize the political situation in our country, through the hybrid war. The official said that the authorities in Moscow have changed their tactics and are using representatives of the underworld and members of parties that declare themselves pro-European for destabilization purposes.
At the same time, the official said that, although the war in Ukraine continues, there is no imminent risk for the Republic of Moldova.
