Finland warned that it may not open border crossings with the Russian Federation
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said that his country may not open border checkpoints with Russia after February 11, Rador reports, citing the Rosbalt agency.
"We understand that there are people behind the eastern border whose goal is to enter Finland illegally," the head of the Finnish government said live on Yle TV. Orpo said that in such a situation the authorities cannot annul the closure of the border. At the same time, the Finnish politician spoke for the development of methods to prevent illegal crossing of the border while it remains closed.
According to Rosbalt, the checkpoints at the Finnish-Russian border were closed by a decision of the Finnish government until February 11. Finland's Ministry of the Interior is to announce a new decision in this regard on February 8.
