The candidates, a mix of current prosecutors and lawyers, include:
- Octavian Iachimovschi: Acting Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office
- Ion Munteanu: Acting Prosecutor General since October 2022
- Igor Demciucin: Current Deputy to the Acting Prosecutor General

Transparency and Integrity Under Scrutiny
Following thorough file reviews and interviews, the CSP will recommend select candidates to the Vetting Commission. This independent body, crucial in Moldova's anti-corruption efforts, will assess their integrity and competency before a final selection.
Authorities expect the Vetting Commission to choose a new Prosecutor General within months, with the President ultimately appointing the successful candidate.
Significance
The new Prosecutor General will play a vital role in bolstering Moldova's rule of law and tackling widespread corruption. The Vetting Commission's involvement aims to ensure the chosen candidate possesses the independence, expertise, and ethical background necessary for the critical role.
