Chisinau Hospitals Grapple with Pneumonia Surge, Urging Parental Vigilance
Hospitals in Moldova's capital, Chisinau, are facing a surge in pneumonia cases, particularly among children, according to health officials.
Most hospitals, especially those specialising in paediatric care, are operating at maximum capacity.
"The situation is especially concerning at the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 for Children and the Children's Infectious Diseases Hospital," declared Vladimir Bolocan, deputy head of the city's General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance. "Even the Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children "V. Ignatenco" is nearing its bed capacity."
Bolocan emphasised that pneumonia and bronchopneumonia are the primary diagnosis for hospitalised patients during this period. He urged parents to closely monitor their children's health to prevent the situation from escalating.
This pneumonia surge adds pressure to Moldova's healthcare system, already strained by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
