The Republic of Moldova starts the process of assessing the degree of compliance of national legislation with that of the European Union
In Brussels, the process of assessing the degree of compliance of national legislation with that of the European Union was started, reads a press release from the Government, after a visit by the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, led by the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov .
The meeting included discussions with European Commission officials, who will work together with the government team throughout the negotiation process. The timetable and procedural details of the assessment stage of the conformity of national legislation with the acquis communautaire were agreed, according to the cited source.
Also, Cristina Gherasimov met with the head of the General Directorate for Neighborhood and EU Enlargement Negotiations, Gert-Jan Koopman, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the implementation of the three conditionalities, according to the European Commission's report from November 2023.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, a special emphasis will be placed on the continuation of reforms in the judicial system and the process of deoligarchization. Moreover, the Government states that during the meeting, the possibilities of capitalizing on the assistance and expertise at the level of the European Commission were analyzed to strengthen the capacities of the Office for European Integration, the team of negotiators and the experts from the national institutions.
