US Warning to Israel on Rafah
Approximately thirty rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel overnight, as reported by Hotnews.ro, citing the Israeli army, as reported by Hotnews.ro.
Confirming the incident, an Israeli army spokesperson stated, "We can confirm that approximately 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards the Ein Zeitim and Dalton areas in northern Israel."
The United States issued a warning to Israel regarding potential risks in Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, where over a million Palestinians reside. Deputy Spokesperson for the Department of State, Vedant Patel, cautioned, "Carrying out such an operation now, without planning and thought, in an area where a million people are sheltered, would be a disaster."
During discussions in Jerusalem, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to prioritise civilian safety in Rafah.
The Israeli military intensified strikes on Rafah, with Prime Minister Netanyahu ordering preparations for an offensive in the area. This move raises concerns about the fate of the 1.3 million Palestinians trapped there, many of whom were displaced following recent confrontations in the northern Gaza Strip.
