USA and Germany, determined to support Ukraine. They will deliver to Kiev new infantry armoured vehicles and Patriot defence systems

The United States of America and Germany intend to deliver to Ukraine Bradley type infantry armoured vehicles, from the American side, and Marder model, from the German side, the White House announced on Thursday, reports AFP. The announcement comes after a phone call between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The two leaders expressed their "joint decision" to support Ukraine,” writes Agerpres, referring to a press release from the American executive.

Germany, like the United States, will supply Ukraine with a Patriot air defence system, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden also announced, according to a joint statement.

"At the end of December, the United States announced the donation to Ukraine of a Patriot air defence system. Germany will join the United States in providing Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defence system," reads the statement.

It should be noted that both the USA and Germany came, on Thursday, with a first reaction to the truce proposed by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. US President Joe Biden appreciated that Putin is looking for "a breath of air" by launching a 36-hour truce in Ukraine on the occasion of the Christmas holiday. For its part, German diplomacy estimated on Thursday that the "alleged" cease-fire in Ukraine will bring "neither freedom nor security to the people who live in daily fear under Russian occupation", according to AFP.

Radio Moldova recalls that Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered his army to observe a ceasefire in Ukraine on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas on January 6 and 7, the first large-scale truce since the beginning of the invasion almost a year ago. Ukraine described the ceasefire as "hypocrisy", accusing Moscow of wanting to "buy time".
