Moldovans Pay Most Gas Bills Despite Slight Drop Compared to 2023
Moldovans paid 98% of their 2023 gas bills by January 31, 2024, according to state gas supplier Moldovagaz. This marks a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Breakdown by Sector:
- Household consumers: Paid 98% of their bills, down 0.5% from 2023.
- Non-household consumers (businesses): Paid 98% of their bills, down 0.8% from 2023.
- Energy and heating sector: Paid 97.7% of their bills, up 1.8% from 2023.
Vulnerable Consumers Supported:
Around 465,000 individuals received compensation for gas consumption totaling 187.4 million lei. Additionally, 4,690 apartment associations, categorized as vulnerable based on energy needs, received 1.8 million lei in compensation.
Overall Revenue Down:
Moldovagaz collected 14.5 billion lei for gas consumed in 2023, representing a decrease of 3.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
Moldovagaz Statement:
"The level of payment for natural gas consumption for the volume supplied in 2023 as of January 31, 2024 is 98%, which amounts to 14.5 billion lei, or 3.3% less compared to the same period last year."
