Police launch the "Pedestrian" action with the aim of reducing road accidents involving pedestrians

The police will carry out between February 12-24, the "Pedestrian" action throughout the country, which involves activities aimed at reducing the number of road accidents involving pedestrians.

Not granting the legal priority to pedestrians is sanctioned with a fine from 1500 to 1800 lei with the application of 5 penalty points. In the case of repeating such situations, the fine can reach up to 2,500 lei with the suspension of driving for a period of 30 to 45 days.

The police warn that pedestrians are also subject to penalties. Those who ignore road traffic direction signs, irregularly cross the road or move to prohibited places are fined up to 450 lei.

During the month of January, 52 accidents involving pedestrians were registered throughout the country. As a result, 11 people died, and 42 were injured.
