"Shahed" type drone, detected in Vulcănești. IGP: A load of about 50 kg of explosive substance was found

The General Police Inspectorate announces that following in-depth investigations at the site where component parts of a Shahed drone were found, the law enforcement officers found a load containing about 50 kg of explosive substance.

According to the cited source, the police have ensured the defusing and gathering of all the component parts of the remains of the drone, and in the next hours they will ensure the detonation of the detected explosive charge under safe conditions. "We remind that, from the moment these fragments were detected until the completion of the on-site investigation, the entire perimeter was secured and public safety was ensured," informs the IGP.

We remind you that on Sunday, February 11, in the area of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, near the town of Etulia, Vulcănești district, fragments of a "Shahed" type drone were detected. Access to the region was restricted.

President Maia Sandu said that Russia's war against Ukraine is hitting the Republic of Moldova again. The head of state claims that this reminds us of the grim realities we face.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the Minister of Foreign Affairs likewise condemned Russia's unjustified attacks against Ukraine, which once again affected the Republic of Moldova. In a post on the X platform, the PM said that there are currently no risks for the localities in the state border area, and the investigation is ongoing.
