Ukraine will not reopen the crossing points at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment, announces the Ukrainian ambassador in Chisinau
Ukraine will not reopen the crossing points at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment until the security situation improves considerably, Ukraine's ambassador to Chisinau, Marko Shevchenko, told JurnalTV.
According to the diplomat, this decision was taken unilaterally by Ukraine, under the conditions of the war started by Russia, and is not related to the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute.
"Ukraine has closed crossing points with the Transnistrian region because of the war, for security reasons. This decision was in no way related to the Transnistrian regulatory situation. It was our decision, unilaterally, and currently I see no option for this position to be changed. Until the Ukrainian security situation does not improve considerably, it remains closed," said Marko Shevchenko.
We remind you that the authorities in Kyiv ordered the temporary closure of some checkpoints at the state border and some checkpoints on February 26, 2022. At the same time, the Ukrainian Government decided, on October 10, 2023, to reopen the crossing point of border "Pervomaisk Cuciurgan", on the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, which connects with the Odesa region.
