European leaders react to the news about the death of Alexei Navalny

"The death of Alexei Navalny in a Russian prison is a stark reminder of the regime’s appaling oppression of dissent," President Maia Sandu wrote in a post on the X platform. The head of state sent her condolences to the family, relatives and the Russian people.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean also posted a message on the X network regarding the tragic news of the death of the Russian opposition leader. The Prime Minister said that the death of Alexei Navalny is a reminder of why we must continue to resist the Kremlin's brutality and defend democratic values.

"Just like Alexei, people all over the world are fighting for freedom, democracy and respect for human rights. And this fight should never stop," wrote Recean.

The Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, said that the whole world is horrified by the death of Alexei Navalnyi.

Several European officials reacted to the sudden death of the Russian dissident Alexei Navalny. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she was deeply saddened by the terrible news.

"I just learned about the death of the Russian opponent Alexei Navalny. He was obviously killed by Putin, as were many others who were tortured and killed by this creature. Putin doesn't care who dies, as long as he maintains his position," Vladimir Zelensky said.
