The Republic of Moldova signed the Ljubjiana – The Hague Convention

The Republic of Moldova signed the Ljubljana-The Hague Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of Genocide and War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity and Other International Crimes. Thus, our country is among the first signatory states of the document, reads a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

It aims to strengthen international cooperation in the investigation and prosecution of crimes, the collection and sharing of evidence, the extradition of convicts and mutual legal assistance.

The Ljubljana-The Hague Convention, signed by 35 countries, is the first important treaty in the field of international criminal law, after the Rome Statute adopted in 1998, on the basis of which the International Criminal Court was established.

The document is to be ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
