Body of Russian Dissident Alexei Navalny Missing
The body of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is missing, raising further questions surrounding his death, which the West widely attributed to assassination by Vladimir Putin's regime.
Navalny's mother and lawyer were informed his body was located at the Salekhard morgue but found it closed upon arrival. Morgue staff denied possessing the body. It was also not found at the city's bureau of forensic medical examination.
Navalny's team asserts the Investigative Committee ordered a second histological examination as no cause of death was established. The penal colony where he was held claims Navalny died of sudden death syndrome.
