An office of the European Transport Community could be opened in Chisinau
The Republic of Moldova intends to become a member of the Treaty establishing the European Transport Community, and an office of this organization could be opened in Chisinau, after the authorities sent a request at the first high-level meeting of the European Union - Republic of Moldova Dialogue, reads a press release from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
According to the source, the accession to that treaty and the opening of the office will speed up the process of integrating the transport sector with the European one. Thus, the Republic of Moldova will benefit from technical assistance regarding the common aviation space, maritime traffic, as well as for the restructuring and development of institutions in the field.
The meeting also discussed the digitization of transport services, financial support for the expansion of the car fleet, the connection of railway networks from the Republic of Moldova to those in the EU bloc by switching to the European gauge, as well as increasing the operating capacities of the Giurgiulești International Port.
