Moldova: Electricity, Heat Prices to Drop After Gas Tariff Cut
Moldova's electricity and heat prices are expected to decrease following a recent reduction in the natural gas tariff, according to Energy Minister Victor Parlicov.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is set to review and adjust electricity prices soon.
"Decisions regarding changes to heat and electricity prices will follow. With prices trending downward on the international market, we have reason for optimism. Based on this year's price forecasts, I believe we can expect a reduction, and ANRE will clarify the specifics. It's important for citizens to see this downward trend in international prices reflected in their bills," Parlicov stated.
Yesterday, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) approved a 20% reduction in the natural gas tariff. The new price will be approximately 13.4 lei per cubic metre (excluding VAT) and takes effect upon publication in the Official Monitor this Friday. Experts note that the decision was expected, given the decline in purchase prices on international exchanges.
