Denmark and Ukraine concluded a security agreement for the next ten years
Denmark and Ukraine will cooperate on security for the next ten years. An agreement to this effect was signed in Lviv by President Volodymyr Zelenski and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Britain, Germany and France have previously signed similar agreements to help Ukraine repel Russian aggression, based on a pledge made by the Group of Seven (G7) last July.
Denmark is the first non-G7 country to finalize the agreement. Copenhagen announced on February 22 that it was signing the treaty with Kiev.
According to the agreement, concluded on the eve of the second anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion, Denmark will give Ukraine 1.8 billion euros this year.
In the Danish fund for the support of Ukraine, 8.5 billion euros are also allocated for the period of 2023-2028.
Copenhagen has pledged to support allied efforts to supply Ukraine with F-16s, drones, communications equipment and radars. Also, it aims to develop the Ukrainian Navy and contribute to demining the country.
The agreement also includes Denmark's commitment to support Ukraine's EU and NATO aspirations, as well as sanctions against Russia.
