Armand Goșu: The security of the Republic of Moldova depends dramatically on Ukraine

The Republic of Moldova, as well as other states such as the Baltic states, cannot be safe, and their security depends dramatically on Ukraine, said geopolitics expert from Bucharest, Armand Goșu, PhD in Russian history, in the show "Zi de Zi". In his opinion, the border war will continue this year, and in 2025, after the US elections, a security solution could be found.

"If Russia defeats Ukraine, there is a fairly high risk that countries like Moldova, the Baltic countries will be targets of Russian aggression. The existence, security of the Republic of Moldova and its chance to integrate into the European world depend dramatically on Ukraine. As long as Ukraine can stand up to Russia, Moldova can feel safe. If Ukraine is defeated, Moldova's chances of not getting closer to the EU, of saving its integrity, independence decrease dramatically".

In order to emerge victorious from the war, Ukraine needs weapons, ammunition and integration into NATO, Armand Goșu said. "Ukraine can come out victorious with Ukrainian soldiers parading in Red Square, no one has ever raised the issue. I think that Ukraine can win, that is, the return to the borders of 1991, rather the disappearance of Putin, or, Putin can disappear physically, be removed from power, BUT this presupposes a very complicated process. Russia has nuclear weapons, no one imagines a scenario where foreign troops enter Russian territory and pose an existential threat to the Russian Federation. Ukraine must be supported with weapons, ammunition, and space must be made in the Euro-Atlantic world, as long as it takes for Putin to fall and another political leader to come to power, to put Russia back on another track, to repair relations with the West".

Armand Goșu said that after February 24, 2022, from the day Putin launched an invasion in Ukraine, the Russian Federation no longer has an authoritarian regime, but a dictatorship, and on an extreme level he managed to isolate Russia.
