Boosting Farms: New Milk Subsidies in Moldova

Dairy producers in Moldova can look forward to a boost as the government implements new subsidy programs for sheep and goat milk!

Aiming to strengthen farm productivity and solidify the country's food security, these subsidies will offer direct payments of 5 lei (0,25 euro) per kilogram of milk delivered. This initiative follows a successful program launched last year that provided support specifically for cow's milk production.

"Following discussions with businesses, we expect to open the application process for sheep and goat milk subsidies in the second half of this year," said Iurie Scripnic, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. "As it's currently the production season, producers need to establish contacts with processors to ensure a smooth transition when applications open."

The application process itself will be straightforward. Producers can submit applications along with documentation proving milk production to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA). Details regarding the application process and eligibility requirements are expected to be released closer to the launch date.

In the meantime, Moldovan dairy farmers can look forward to this new program that will financially incentivize increased production and contribute to a more secure domestic food supply.
