Moldova Empowers Women: Business, Family & Safety Gains
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova boasts the highest number of female deputies ever, with more than 140 women working in the Secretariat.
This translates to 75% of civil servants being women, according to Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament. This year has seen significant progress on gender equality and women's rights.
Legislative advancements have paved the way for greater female participation in the workforce. Parliament passed a series of laws that promote women's business ownership and allow for greater flexibility in balancing work and family life. This includes the introduction of flexible working programs in the Labor Code.
Women's safety is also a top priority. The ratification of key international conventions strengthens protections against violence against women and domestic violence. Additionally, the National Agency to Prevent and Combat Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence has been established to address these issues effectively.
Work-life balance has also received a boost. Women can now work and receive maternity allowance while on parental leave, offering crucial financial support during this important time.
These advancements highlight Moldova's commitment to empowering women across various aspects of life. By fostering a more inclusive environment for women in business, family, and public service, Moldova is paving the way for a brighter future for all.
