Sergiu Lazarencu took the oath of investiture in the new position. Maia Sandu: "The environment is a priority for the country"
The appointed Minister of the Environment, Sergiu Lazarencu, took the oath of office this morning before the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the Prime Minister, Dorin Recean.
"The field of the environment is one that is very close to me and is a priority for our country, and here I want to mention, first of all, the national afforestation program, and I want to thank Mrs. Rodica Iordanov for the progress we made together on this program and others. My expectation is that we will continue to make consistent efforts to implement this program. Last year we managed to plant 7 thousand hectares of forest, this year we have the same task", said Maia Sandu, after Sergiu Lazarencu took the oath of investiture.
Another important priority is waste and wastewater management, Maia Sandu said.
"Serious steps were taken. You know that the new method of waste collection and processing is being piloted in several districts, and I want us to see substantial progress in this field in the coming months, years."
Prime Minister Dorin Recean also listed the priorities of the new Minister of the Environment
"Increasing afforestation, waste management, restructuring Moldsilva and very importantly, the complex agenda of negotiations with the European Union. These things are the responsibility of the Ministry and I trust that Minister Lazarencu will perform in this regard. Good luck with your work".
We remind that yesterday, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced changes in the composition of the Government, and that PAS deputy Sergiu Lazarencu will take over the position of Minister of the Environment.
Also yesterday, Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov announced her resignation from the position of minister. Iordanov said that she will continue his work in some projects and expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Dorin Recean for the joint work and efforts made in the government team.
