On March 14, soldiers fallen in the armed conflict of 1992 for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova are commemorated on the battlefield of Coșnița. In this sense, the deputies held a minute of silence today.
"On the night of March 13 to 14, 1992, a national police patrol stationed at the entrance to the village of Coșnița was attacked, and police platoon leader Nicolae Sotnicenco was killed," said the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
On March 14, in the town of Coșnița, one of the fiercest combat actions took place during the Transnistrian conflict. According to official data, 43 Moldovan citizens died then, and in total 287 people lost their lives in the Nistru war, about 40 were reported missing and another 3,500 were injured.
