Activity of the “Sansa” Party to be suspended for a period of 6 months
The activity of the “Sansa” Party, affiliated to Ilan Şor, could be suspended for a period of up to six months. The decision would be approved if the representatives of the formation do not present the financial reports from the electoral campaign from last November, said the Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov Moraru. The management of the formation did not comment on the statements.
The “Sansa” Political Party has five days to present to the Ministry of Justice the financial reports from the November 2023 electoral campaign. Otherwise, Minister Veronica Mihailov Moraru said, the institution could limit the party's activity, as provided by law.
"The Ministry of Justice is going to request the party to present this information within five days, otherwise, according to art. 21 of the Law on political parties, we will have the right, possibly, in the case of a refusal or failure to provide information, to limit the activity of the party for a period of up to six months with the application of several restrictions. The project was prepared and will be sent in the next few days", said Veronica Mihailov Moraru.
The “Sansa” Party previously refused to present the accounting documents to the Central Electoral Commission, the vice-president of the institution, Pavel Postică, told Radio Moldova. He explained that following this refusal, the Ministry of Justice also requested the financial reports.
"I sent a request and notified the Ministry of Justice, that they, repeatedly, request the party in question to present the basic information, the primary documents that confirm the legality of the income and expenditures made during the electoral campaign. If the party does not respond to the repeated request of the Ministry of Justice, then the Ministry of Justice can disseminate the opportunity to address the court, asking for the limitation of the activity of the political party", said Pavel Postică. “Sansa” Party President Alexei Lungu did not answer the phone to comment on those statements.
We remind you that the “Sansa” Party, created last August around the general local elections, is supported by the controversial politician and oligarch Ilan Şor, sentenced to 15 years in prison in the case of bank fraud. However, the formation candidates were excluded from the electoral race on the last day of the campaign. The Commission for Emergency Situations, which made the decision, motivated by the involvement of Ilan Şor's group in Russia's attempts to interfere in the political processes in the Republic of Moldova.
