The Moldovan president Maia Sandu holds a conference in connection with the organization of the referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. She has recently had consultations with several groups of citizens and organizations.

UPDATE The head of state lists the benefits of joining the EU. "In the EU, everyone is respected, all languages are protected, where states are obliged so that ethnic groups can preserve their culture, their mother tongue. All ethnic minorities in the Republic of Moldova would benefit from integration. So in addition to the economic conditions, the living conditions that will increase, European integration means advantages including for ethnic minorities"*
UPDATE The President called on the Parliament to initiate the actual process to start the activities for the organization of the referendum this fall.
"Once this objective of European integration is written in the Constitution, the entire political class will be obliged to follow the decision of the citizens and we will have this consistency in the implementation of this plan for the development of the country and we will have the certainty of achieving this objective", declared Maia Sandu.
We remind you that on December 24, the day when the head of state Maia Sandu announced her intention to run for a new presidential term, she requested the Parliament to organize a referendum on the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. A few days later, the Parliament adopted amendments that provide that the Republican Referendum can be organized at the same time as the parliamentary, presidential or local elections.
