No party can achieve the European integration project alone, Moldovan president

European integration is not the project of one person, of a political party, and no party can achieve this European integration project alone. A statement to this effect was made by the head of state, Maia Sandu, in a conference regarding the referendum on our country's accession to the EU bloc.

"This project belongs to all citizens, those involved politically, those not involved politically. Regardless of where they live, in the country, or abroad, regardless of whether they are in the north or the south, whether they speak Romanian, Russian or Gagauz, all citizens will benefit from this project and all citizens need to put their shoulders together so that this project is happening". President Maia Sandu admitted that there will be challenges and attempts to scare the citizens.

"My respectful request to all citizens is to inform ourselves from reliable sources, not to perpetuate, not to pass on the fakes and make the decisions that are good for us without the pressure of fear, because this decision, I repeat, is about our present and it is about our future, about the future of our children and grandchildren, and it is important that this decision is conscious, taken without fear and without this outside interference that we feel more and more. I am absolutely sure that all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova first of all want peace, and the EU means a peace project and all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova want to have the chance to develop here, at home".

In this vein, Maia Sandu requested the Parliament to initiate the procedures for organizing the referendum, which will most likely take place in October of this year.
