"The EU is disturbed and appalled by reports of a terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow," European External Action Service (EEAS) spokesperson Peter Stano said on his official X platform account.

The EU "condemns any attack against civilians," added Stano, who also said:

"Our thoughts go out to all Russian citizens affected" by the attack.

For its part, the US Embassy in Moscow declared itself shocked by the armed attack near Moscow and sent its condolences to the Russian people, according to Reuters. At the same time, in a statement, the embassy advised US citizens to avoid the area where the attack happened.

The French Foreign Ministry said its thoughts are with the victims of the attack in Moscow and with the Russian people. Also, Paris denounced "heinous acts" and expressed its desire to shed light on this attack.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to condemn the attack, described as a terrorist attack by the Investigative Committee, the body in charge of the investigation.

Russia's federal security service, the FSB, said forty people were killed and more than 100 were wounded in a gun attack by five gunmen in camouflage uniforms who opened fire at the concert hall Crocus City Hall on the outskirts of Moscow.

The massive fire that broke out in the building of the shopping center in the city of Krasnogorsk, on the outskirts of Moscow, makes it difficult both to evacuate the people still in the building and to search for the attackers, reports EFE.
