Energy & Construction: Moldova's Path to Europe

Over 110 participants in the construction and energy sectors are expected at two thematic exhibitions opening on March 28th.

Investments in the energy sector are an important step towards integrating our country into the European market, and improving energy efficiency is a priority, according to representatives of the relevant ministry.

Exhibitions to Showcase Opportunities

The Moldenergy and Moldconstruct exhibitions will take place in the Republic of Moldova from March 28th to 31st to present the opportunities of these two interconnected sectors, said Zinaida Popa, director of the Moldexpo Exhibition Center. According to her, over 110 participants will showcase their services in the fields of construction and renewable energy.

“This key event aims to make efficient use of energy resources, including renewable sources like solar, wind, and biogas. It will also promote the application of energy conservation technologies, and the use of thermal systems for air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, and refrigeration. It will be a significant event that will consolidate our path towards European integration,” said Zinaida Popa.

Focus on Energy Efficiency

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov highlighted that more than 50% of all energy is consumed in buildings because it is not used efficiently. He emphasised the importance of cooperation between the construction and energy sectors, noting that investments in the energy efficiency of buildings are a priority for the ministry. Parlicov also announced the upcoming launch of the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund, which will provide financial resources for apartments and households to improve their energy performance.

“These two exhibitions go hand in hand. Beyond the security aspect and the construction of interconnection lines, there is a great role for and potential for investment in areas that directly impact people's daily lives. Our main focus is on decarbonization and energy efficiency, which heavily involve building insulation, changing heating sources, and integrating renewable energy into consumption. All of these have a strong connection to the construction sector,” explained Victor Parlicov.

Solutions for Energy Conservation

The Moldenergy and Modconstruct exhibitions will be held in Chisinau from March 28th to 31st. Participants will propose the best solutions in energy conservation technologies and thermal installations.
