Ukraine's Danilov: From Security to Diplomacy?
Oleksii Danilov, recently dismissed from his position as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, could be appointed as Ukraine's new ambassador to Moldova, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
"He was offered a diplomatic job immediately after his dismissal from the National Security Council, and consultations are currently underway within President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's team," Ukrainska Pravda states.
Danilov is reportedly considering the option, stating: "Moldova is the most likely option at the moment."
To note, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Oleksii Danilov from his position as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on March 26. The decision was announced via a decree on Zelenskyy's Presidential Administration website. The same decree appointed Oleksandr Litvinenko, former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, to take over as Secretary of the Security Council.
Danilov, who held the position since October 2019, was one of the most prominent Ukrainian officials on both the domestic and international stage.
On March 29, Ukraine's ambassador to Moldova, Marko Shevchenko, was recalled in connection with the expiration of his term. A decree confirming this was signed by the leader in Kyiv.
