Romania to Release Second Instalment of €100 Million Aid to Moldova

Romania is preparing to disburse the second tranche of its €100 million non-reimbursable financial assistance to Moldova.

The subject was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest, Victor Chirilă, and the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Romania, Alexandru Mihai Ghigiu.

According to a press release from the Moldovan Embassy in Bucharest, the two officials also reviewed bilateral projects in the field of energy infrastructure, transport, and customs cooperation.

In this context, Victor Chirilă thanked the Government of Romania for its support in implementing projects of strategic importance for the Republic of Moldova.

At the beginning of 2022, Romania announced that it would provide the Republic of Moldova with €100 million in non-reimbursable financial assistance to implement projects in key sectors.

The first tranche of €60 million was disbursed in 2022. The second tranche of €40 million is expected to be disbursed in 2024.
